Video Premiere: Caterpillars – ‘Enemies’

Caterpillars

Caterpillars are the indie rock project of Chris Robinson, Drew Black, Ben Love, and Matthew Putman (Unwed Sailor, Lovedrug, Norma Jean). Since forming in 2008, the band have carved out a loyal following with emotionally resonant songwriting and expansive, textured soundscapes. Their debut album, The Other Side, was met with critical acclaim.

Over the years, Caterpillars has released four full-length albums and two EPs, with 2022’s Frontier for the Fallen marking their most recent tour before the band took time to pursue personal projects. Two years later, longtime collaborators Drew Black and Chris Robinson reunited, sparking the creative momentum behind After the Flood, the band’s fifth studio release.

Written with intention and shaped by personal evolution, After the Flood delves into themes of self-doubt, generational tension, the passage of time, and even the eerie allure of haunted hotels. The band recorded the album in Santa Cruz, California with producer Jim Wirt (Incubus, Fiona Apple, Something Corporate), who previously worked with them on The Wicked and Wonderful.

The first single from the album is ‘Enemies,’ which comes with a great visual companion that anyone with an office/cubicle job they hate can relate to.

Now, with the album’s release on the horizon (pre-order begins today), Caterpillars are preparing to return to the stage, reigniting the energy that has defined their sound for over a decade.

After The Flood sees release on July 25.
