Ahead of their fourth studio album, Shadow Work, psychedelic sludge trio DRUIDS are sharing their new video, “Hide.” Check it out, premiering right here at New Noise.
The Iowa trio’s newest record acts as a wild, riff-laden journey through the wastelands of the subconscious. DRUIDS—Drew Rauch (bass and vocals), Luke Rauch (guitar and vocals), and Keith Rich (drums)—serves their grooves with a forward-thinking attitude, bringing their witchy brand of psychedelic sludge metal to new levels of sophistication.
Rich explains, “We wanted to make a record that reflected the uncertainty of everything in 2020, and we figured this would be the time to really try something different.”
The band moved operations from their hometown of Des Moines, Iowa to Salt Lake City, Utah to escape the distractions of everyday life and shift their perspective. The result is this new record, which sees DRUIDS expanding their composition and exploring an even wider spectrum of sounds.
DRUIDS chat more about the new track:
“‘Hide’ was a good challenge for us. We each had slightly different visions for the song and it took a good three to four months for us to find an arrangement that we felt good about. I messed around with different vocal styles … went back and forth on a lot of things. Ultimately, we’re very happy with how the song turned out.”
