Los Angeles folk-punk act Hoist the Colors are here to kick off your weekend. With their unique formula of bluegrass, Americana folk, and SoCal punk, HTC have been cultivating a unique sound and making a name by sharing stages with legends, such as their appearance on Flogging Molly’s Salty Dog Cruise.
Today, they’re debuting their video for their latest single “Documentation,” which is their first release off their upcoming LP Dear Wanderlust, which is due out on October 10 on HEY!FEVER RECORDS. With a soaring spirit and a folksy feel to the song, “Documentation” is a folk-punk powerhouse for the restless, wandering soul.
“‘Documentation’ was written about the juxtapositions we come across as we travel through our lives,” explains frontman Josh Linden. “There are moments of triumph and overwhelming joy that are consistently being met with times of desperation and unbearable pain. These all coalesce into a singular human experience.
“With Jeff Antons directing, we used the Port of Los Angeles, a booming hub in our home city, as a backdrop representing the ebbs and flows of what we as a band, and as individuals, go through,” he continues. “It really ties in with the rest of the record as each track represents an individual journey that we all encounter as we move ahead.”
