On February 2, Dischord Records released J. Robbins’ second full-length solo album, Basilisk. One of the record’s many standout tracks is ‘Last War.’
Appropriately, Robbins shares the video for the track this “Super Tuesday.”
“The song ‘Last War’ came out of my fear for the future in the wake of the January 6 insurrection, and my frustration with the notion that some form of business as usual could somehow bring balance to a country in such deep crisis, as if looking the other way would make a problem disappear, or as if you could hope to compromise with someone whose knife is at your throat.
“In making this video, I love how filmmaker and long-time friend Christoph Green, who collaborated with Brendan Canty on the Burn to Shine documentaries, subverted a straight-ahead ‘band in the room’ performance, with multiple takes overlapping like blurring alternate timelines,” he adds.
