Portland, Oregon-based garage punks Keddies Resort are ready to show you their American Spirit. The group has been building a reputation for their raw, gritty sound and insatiable energy that has been building them an audience in their local scene. Now they’re ready to dish out their debut album, American Spirit, which is, appropriately enough, due out on July 4 from Sweatband Records.
Today, they’re debuting the title track off their new album, a deliriously fast-paced punk tune that definitely isn’t going to make you feel particularly patriotic. And that’s the point, as the video depicts the vocalist running around with an American flag in the most sacrilegious way possible. And, according to Keddie Smith, this song is the first chapter in the album’s larger story.
“This is the start of the whole story of the album,” says Smith. “Concept character gets fired from his job “rightfully so”, he’s always felt under appreciated due to lack of education and medications. Little does he know getting fired from his job was the best thing for him but also the worst for his most hated coworkers and boss. This sets him off on a journey throughout every state of America perfecting his plot.”
