Video Premiere: Knifey – ‘Ask You’

Knifey’s next record, Sleepwalker, will be out later this year. The video for “Ask You” sums up the feelings of love and connection we all strive to fear.

“’Ask You’ was inspired by the love for a supportive partner,” the band explain. “This song is about the gratitude we should all feel for the people that make us better, but also the insecurity that appreciation can bring when we look back at our own lives and ask if we are worthy of that love.
“This song went through many changes during the recording process. It was almost completely reworked and nearly scrapped altogether, yet now it is one of our favorite songs on the album.

“Nixon Boyd (Hollerado, Anyway Gang, Little Junior) recorded ‘Ask you’ with us at Banquet Sound. He was very involved and supportive, creating an amazing experience for us.”

Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Knifey combine twangy guitars, energetic drumming, and clear, honest vocals to form a unique and refreshing brand of rock. Forming in 2015, the band played frequently in and around Toronto before releasing their debut LP, Beached, in October 2017.

Knifey’s music has since evolved into a more varied sound, combining elements of power pop, introspective ballads, surf rock, and straight-up punk. Now, the band is gearing up to release a second, full-length album in 2020 called Sleepwalker.

With their latest material, the band show no sign of slowing down and are only becoming more adventurous in their sound.
