San Francisco punk band M.U.T.T. are continuing to build their new legacy as torchbearers for their local scene, being formed out of the ashes of beloved punk band Culture Abuse. We previously debuted the title track off their sophomore album, Dirty Deeds last year, but the band aren’t slowing down there. Now they’re gearing up for another release, the upcoming LP Toughest Street in Town which is due out on June 20 from Quiet Panic Records.
“I don’t fear my neighborhood; I am inspired by it,” says band frontman and founder John Jr. “I find myself thriving in the mayhem. I walk around the blocks at night ’cause I know I can take care of myself. You gotta have a tough presence and a tough mind in order to survive in this part of the city. Some of you couldn’t last a week on my street. Maybe that’s why I love it so much.”
Today, the band are debuting the video for the single “Runnin’ With the Devil” off of the upcoming album. A driving punk anthem in tribute to “evil,” or at least the embrace of what this society tries to pass off as evil, “Runnin’ With the Devil” is a down-and-dirty punk song in the classic style. The video, bathed in a blurry red light and featuring dark imagery, becomes a perfect embodiment of the song’s nihilistic edge. Check out the video below.
