Video Premiere: Methadone Skies – ‘Mano Cornetto’

On October 25, via Haywire Records, a new album by the title of Spectres at Dawn, is set to be released by the Romanian post-rockers Methadone Skies. They have a new music video for their song, “Mano Cornetto.”

Guitarist Casian Stanciu on “Mano Cornetto”:

“’Mano Cornetto’ is the song that materialized the fastest for this album. We were jamming on the main riff and over the course of a week or so, all the other parts fused together. The title is a wordplay on the term ‘mano cornuto’ which is the devil’s horns sign. We watched several videos created by various Orthodox priests and worshippers who were trying to shun the popular rock/metal festivals in Romania. They used various dumb arguments, and this was one of them. Sadly, this is still happening in 2024.”

Formed in Timișoara, Romania, Methadone Skies are celebrating their 15th year around the sun with the release of their sixth studio album, Spectres at Dawn. Their latest 40-minute foray into the realms of heavy psych, doom, and prog have pushed the key tenets of underground rock through the stratosphere. Offering up post-rock landscapes, stoner grooves, and sonic concepts, Methadone Skies have changed the formula of previous releases with a more direct and hyper-intensive focus on shorter, punchier bouts of uncompromising sound.
