Hailing from Spain’s underground scene but made up of musicians from Italy, Finland, and the Basque Country comes noise rock power trio Murina. Formed by Martina de Lugnani (Italy) Laura Vainio (Finland) and Iñigo Torío (Basque Country), Murina was born originally as an experimental bass/vocals and drums duo between de Lugnani and Vainio, one in which the bass is treated like the guitar in the band. With an improvisational spirit and a band name that means “growl” in Finnish, Murina have a unique sound all their own.
Today, the band are debuting the video for their new single “Dolor Sin Rencor” (“Pain Without Resentment”) the band’s third single from their upcoming debut album Nueva Forma de Vida (New Way of Life). The bass-heavy, twisted noise of this song is somehow infectious, never reaching the level where the noisiness stops being a lot of fun. “What we’re doing today isn’t meant to be some damn cheesy, nostalgic revival,” say the band. “That’s because what’s interesting about music today is precisely the pastiche of genres that can be mixed to create our own signature style.”
