Melodic hardcore punk trio On The Cinder are sharing their new song and music video “Smells Like American Spirit”. The song is the lead single of their upcoming third full-length LP Heavy-Handed, set to be released on May 7, 2024, through Flower House Records. “Smells Like American Spirit” is a punk gem, which captivates the listener with a very catchy and hypnotizing chorus.

“”Smells Like American Spirit” is the opening track of our third full-length record Heavy-Handed. It’s most obviously a play on Nirvana’s “Teen Spirit”, but it’s also a nod to the cheap cigarettes frequently brought to house shows in our hometown of Buffalo. On The Cinder has deep roots in house shows and one of the overarching themes found in this record is “home” and how your relationship to where you’re from changes as you grow up. This song celebrates the traditions of DIY music at home and in so many other places we’ve experienced as a band.”
