Video Premiere: Paul Leary – ‘The Birds Are Dying’

Paul Leary (Butthole Surfers) is sharing a video for the latest single, “The Birds Are Dying,” off the forthcoming reissue of his debut LP, The History of Dogs, originally shared back in 1992. Check it out right here at New Noise.

The artist revisited the record, out now via Shimmy-Disc/Joyful Noise, with two additional tracks that didn’t appear on the initial release. The 1992 LP was truly ahead of its time, with objectively zany, unhinged, and weird tracks alongside some of the catchiest indie pop music anthems you’ll ever hear.

Leary shares more about the new track:

“Nature is cruel. We humans have only added to the cruelty. ‘The Birds Are Dying’ came from a dark period of my life. I still think about those birds, looking for a place to hide. I, too, was looking for a place to hide.”
