Purplehearts has released his new single and video, “no way out,” from his upcoming full-length LP, set for release this October. Check out the new video, premiering right here at New Noise.
Originally hailing from California, Missouri transplant Mario Mitchell is the singer-songwriter behind purplehearts. Growing up in San Jose, he found his love for music in his teen years, taking up guitar at the age of 14 and pulling inspiration from various artists of the early-2000s emo rock era.
Mitchell spent a handful of years playing in bands and contributing his talent in the background, deciding to forge ahead with his solo music career in 2015. Since his debut, purplehearts has accumulated more than 400,000 streams on Spotify, more than 160,000 streams on YouTube, and amassed more than 20,000 Instagram followers.
Purplehearts says the new track offers a narrative of navigating the “system” while also acting as a defiant anthem on working that system to benefit the individual as best as possible.
“My inspiration for this song was that there’s no way out of this system no matter what we do, and everything we know is kinda bullshit,” purplehearts shares. “The verses allude to how I just stay to myself in my own little world because I am in this whole ‘system’ as much as anyone else, but I’m navigating around it to benefit myself as much as possible.”
