Video Premiere: Roach Squad – ‘Wax & Dust’

Roach Squad

Made up of members of punk rock groups such as The Sainte Catherines, Leatherface, supergroup Roach Squad are taking a DIY approach to their work. Their upcoming album, due out in 2025, was recorded in the band’s own Rocket Studios in Sunderland, U.K., with the exception of the vocals from vocalist Hugo Mudie at Mixart Studios in Montreal. Despite being separated geographically, Roach Squad have cultivated a unique punk sound that’s going to shine through on their upcoming record.

Today, the band are debuting the lyric video for their new single “Wax & Dust” off the upcoming album. With a distinctly ’80s and ’90s punk-meets-power-pop style enhanced by a gruff and energetic vocal performance, this retro-style punk tune packs an absolute wallop while delivering classic melodies. With notes of The Replacements and Soul Asylum, this is a song pulling from timeless elements that make for a great punk song.

“’Wax & Dust’ begins; you’re transported back to 1988 when skate rock reigned supreme,” explain the band about the single. “We’re talking real skate rock, the kind found in films like Powel Peralta’s Public Domain. We’re talking McRad’s “Weakness.” We’re talking cred. Crunchy and catchy.”
