Known for raw and tender emotion at the core of all his songs, Robin Jackson is developing a reputation as one of the most genuine artists in the indie-folk scene. You can tell that people are starting to notice considering that Jackson has played such big name venues as Red Rocks, such big name events as The World Cup, and such eclectic artists as Gogol Bordello, Amanda Palmer, and The Polish Ambassador. His new album, Silver Lining, came out a few weeks ago, and its sweet melodies and heart-jerking lyrics are definitely something you’ll want to experience.
Today, Jackson is debuting the video for the opening track on the album, “Back to Your Heart.” “I wrote this Back to Your Heart after hurting someone I loved and wanting to repair,” explains Jackson. “I learned that it can take years to build trust with someone, and in just one moment, you can destroy it. So I began asking how do you rebuild trust and love again? What does it take? This song is for anyone seeking to repair in love, even with themselves. The video, directed by Jon Meyer, is shot on location in the Pacific Northwest with some cool water effects, and beautifully brings to life the message of the song as a story between two lovers seeking to find a way back to their hearts.”
The concept of Jackson playing the song alone in the middle of a lake offers a sense of calm that perfectly reflects the subtle and delicate beauty of this gorgeous song. The story of the video highlights the themes of hurt feelings and healing, making the poetic lyrics even more poignant. Check out the video below.
