Semi-Famous are back once again. Coming from the mind of former Screeching Weasel guitarist John Jughead, Semi-famous are the band from Jughead’s 2001 semi-autobiographical novel Weasels in a Box which is brought to life by Ryan Rockwell (Mixtapes), singer/guitarist Billy Brown (Crash and Burn, Ashers, Unseen), drummer Tyson Cornell (Scooby Don’t), and vocalist/guitarist Poli van Dam (Bombpops, The Poli van Dam Band). They’re putting out their debut album Destroy Ourselves this Friday via a collaboration between Rare Bird Books and Duck! Records and, last month, we had the pleasure of debuting their first video off the new album called, appropriately enough, “Weasels in a Box.”
Now, with only two days until the release of the album, Semi-Famous are debuting their latest video for their single “Obvious.” With crackling hooks, complimenting masc and femme vocals, and a classic pop-punk energy, the song is an absolute bop that will be stuck in your head for days after. The hilarious video imagines a deadly pandemic where people turn into murderous clowns, which is played as a fun parody of zombie movies that perfectly matches the tone of the song itself. Check out the video below.
Destroy Ourselves is out July 26 and you can pre-order it from Rare Bird.
