Video Premiere: Slaughterhouse – ‘State of Emergency’

South Bay Los Angeles-based punk and deathrock band Slaughterhouse debuted in 2017 and haven’t slowed down for a moment since. Propelled by the powerful vocals of Meriel O’Connell, the band are reminiscent of the sounds of the best femme-forward punk bands from the early days of the genre like X, The Avengers, and Blondie.

Today, they’re debuting their video for their new single “State of Emergency.” The song’s driving beat and classic ’70’s punk vibe swirl together into a powerful and exciting track. The gripping black-and-white video furthers that ’70’s vibe as the band members go exploring the unknown and biting off more than they can chew as they awaken a primal power. It’s a gritty, horror-tinged video that’s full of attitude and atmosphere. Check out the video below, which was directed by O’Connell alongside Kamil Zeglen.

The band have a big all-ages headlining show coming up at Moroccan Lounge Los Angeles May 17 with Chico and Baus, and tickets are available through their website.
