Formed in the city of Espinho, Portugal and drawing from the psychedelia of 1960s pop and rock and the subsequent 1980s psychedelic revival, Summer of Hate are growing their reputation for a unique sound filled with elements of post-punk, noise rock, and Middle Eastern music. The band have built their name by touring extensively throughout the Iberian peninsula and sharing stages with the likes of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Damned, Fat White Family, Sisters of Mercy, and A Place to Bury Strangers, not to mention big name Portuguese acts like MAQUINA., Conferência Inferno, Solar Corona, and HETTA. Now they’re releasing their ambitious double LP Blood & Honey on January 30 through Tee Pee Records, with the two contrasting sides reflecting the dense, immersive sound of the Blood side and the bittersweet melodic counterpoint of Honey.
Today, the band are debuting the video for their single “El Saif” off the upcoming double LP. Featuring a powerful energy fused to Middle Eastern elements and a deeply psychedelic video that harkens back to the 1960s, it’s a trippy sonic experience that perfectly captures what the band are all about. Check out the video below.
