Chicago’s Take The Reins are sharing their new music video for the track “I’m At Your Door,” and you can check it out premiering here at New Noise.
Take The Reins self-released their debut, full-length LP, Addiction by Subtraction, back in 2017. Since then, they’ve performed alongside a number of prominent punk bands like Masked Intruder, The Queers, MakeWar, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, 88 Fingers Louie, and more. After selling out shows in their hometown and appearing at national festivals like FEST and Riot Fest, the band are gearing up for a major summer season of shredding.
“I’m At Your Door” comes from the band’s upcoming album, set for a June 22 release via Flat Aht Records. The video uses a doorbell cam to explore the feeling of settling in, ready to relax, only to be met by the dreaded presence of someone at your door. The hilarious video features a wide array of characters making their way to the doorstep, including bible thumpers and Girl Scouts, all vying for the attention of the folks inside and subsequently destroying their property. The video caps off with a stellar, old school movie reference as well.
Vocalist Courtney Boyers gives a bit more insight on the track and the accompanying video:
“The song is based on feeling defeated after making many attempts to be a part of someone’s life, but they are just not wanting to let you in. The video is a literal interpretation of the main character knocking at this person’s door trying to get through to them, but they never answer. When they first show up to the house, they knock with high hopes, but you see them feeling more and more defeated after many failed attempts. they end up basically losing their mind and then choose to walk away.”
