Video Premiere: The Anti-Groupies – ‘Read the Room’

The Anti-Groupies

South Bay, California’s The Anti-Groupies are appropriately named. This all-woman band are far from the fawning image of rock groupies draping themselves all over a rock band. They’re the band! Powerful and assertive, The Anti-Groupies aren’t taking crap from anyone. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of influences from Paramore to Rush to the Sex Pistols to Megadeath, Kyla (Drums), Sydney (Bass), Cassidy (Guitar/Vocals) and Bella (Guitar) are rising stars in the SoCal punk scene.

The band are planning to enter the studio in February with producer Jim Wirt (Incubus, Dial-7, Fiona Apple, Centershift etc), but for now, there’s a bit of a preview of what’s to come. Today, The Anti-Groupies are debuting their video for their latest single “Read the Room.” With it’s swinging rhythm and spirited energy, the song is an energetic banger and even features something that’s extremely rare in punk songs: a truly fierce guitar solo. The video, directed by Dylan Gianella, sees the band fending off an aggressive all-male band trying to muscle in on their practice space in a fantastic display of girl-power.
