Video Premiere: The Below – ‘Hitobito (Only the Shadows)’ (Featuring Jesper Hanning)

The Below

We just can’t seem to get enough of The Below. Formed as the industrial, post-punk solo project of Bo Magnusson, formerly of Dr. Evil and the Boys From Below, we’ve featured a few of their videos and songs before, most recently the dark, discordant single “Tabla Motors” which includes a guest appearance from Jesper Hanning. Today, The Below are debuting the video for another song with Hanning called “Hitobito (Only the Shadows)”off the new album Immutable Behavior which comes out tomorrow and combines the project’s two EPs from last year, Immutable Decay and Behavior in Public Places.

A darkly menacing track that revolves around the horrific bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II, the animated video by Daniele Arcuri is a figurative interpretation of the tragedy that hammers home the haunting nature of the track itself. This isn’t a song or video that’s going to make you feel good, nor should it. It’s a stark reminder of the atrocities that can. be visited on humans by other human beings.
