Atlanta-based melodic punk trio The Carolyn like to say they make “melodic punk for overthinkers, underachievers, and anyone barely keeping it together,” and, frankly, who of us doesn’t fit one of those categories these days? The band’s upcoming third LP, Pyramid Scheme of Grief—out October 3 on 59 X Records (U.S.) and Disconnect Disconnect (U.K.)—promises to be the band at their absolute punchy best, with not a single song clocking in at more than two-and-a-half minutes in length.
Today, the band are debuting the video for two tracks off the new album, “White Russians” and “… And the Infinite Void.” With a rollicking beat and a nostalgic melody reminiscent of pop-punk greats The Replacements, “White Russians” is a beautifully melodic piece of punk that perfectly segues into the more power-packed and muscular track “…And the Infinite Void.” The two tracks merge into one seamlessly in the video, making for one coherent artistic statement across the two singles. This is absolutely melodic punk at its best.
“These two songs contain the “mission statement” of the album,” explains guitarist and vocalist Andrew Patrick, “both very much embrace malaise and disappointment. Super thankful to have The Punk Cellist feature on ‘White Russians’ and backing vocals from Tony of Tired Radio on ‘”… and the Infinite Void.'”
