A new chapter unfolds for lauded Swiss garage punks The Jackets, as they mark their recording debut on their newly formed label, Wild Noise Records, with the single “Pie In The Sky.” New Noise are proud to debut the single’s accompanying video below.
“Pie In The Sky’s” pace carries a dream-like feel between frontwoman Jack Torera’s steady hand fuzz and harmonics guitar work over drummer Chris Rosales’s, mid-tempo pacing and the dual vocal harmonics of Rosales and bassist Sam Schimidger.
Torera’s soft, reverb-laced vocals carry the listener through lyrical themes around the positive aspects of being a stranger in a strange land with all possibilities opening and a clean slate present before you. There are subtle hints in Torera’s lyrics that a new start could come from an unpleasant experience. Yet, she cleverly uses subtle language in the song that leaves the listener open to draw upon their own conclusion about what the experience could be.

The video’s concept was created by Torera, with the band enlisting videographer, Steve Diener, to assist the conception into realization out in the countryside of the Swiss capital city, Bern. “Pie In the Sky” marks the first release from The Jackets since the critically heralded Queen of the Pill album in 2019 and is now available on all digital platforms with a seven-inch single coming in March 2023.
