Montreal’s punk infused power-pop four-piee, The Low Sixes, were born out of the collaboration of indie scene veterans Jonathan Cummins and Brendan Drouillard from heavy psych rock outfit USAs Out of Vietnam. Their upcoming new album The Oshawa Tree is out October 4 on Forge Again Records.
The album title is a play off of the name of the city of Oshawa in Ontario, Canada. “The title came to me while I was trapped in Joshua Tree National Park in California with no money or passport to get back to Montreal,” Cummins recalls about the album title.
Today, The Low Sixes are debuting their glorious new pop-rock rager “Ryan’s Favorite Song.” It’s a gorgeously hooky anthem that bristles with joyful energy with just a hint of nostalgic melancholy. Everything about the video exudes the energy of a group of people genuinely having fun. If you’re a big fan of pop with a hard rock edge to it, you’ll find that “Ryan’s Favorite Song” scratches your every itch. Check out the video below.
If you’re in the Montreal, Quebec area, you’ll want to catch The Low Sixes at L’Hemisphere Gauche with Electri-City and Taxi Girls on Thursday, August 1.
