Los Angeles-based band The Manic Standstill have released a new music video for their track, “Reasons Why.” The track will be available tomorrow, March 25 . It is from their upcoming album, Moving, set to release later this year via Wiretap Records/Double Helix.
Frontman, Adam Bones, on “Reasons Why”:
““Reasons Why” is a song about confrontation and how much I don’t like it. But the story is told as if I am able to confidently say what I want to say to the person I am confronting. This song is the first song recorded for the album. At that time, The Manic Standstill, as a band, had not formed yet. The project started out as a solo album, which is why the song features Go Betty Go rhythm section, Aixa Vilar on drums, and Michelle Rangel on bass. The song also features Kevin Preston of Prima Donna on backing vocals. It was also produced by Davey Warsop and recorded at his Strong Studios. The idea in the beginning was simple: Record my songs with friends. This song was the first of the batch.”

“The music video was also shot before the band had formed; however, The Manic Standstill bassist Eddy Hewitt does make an appearance rocking the accordion,” Bones continues. “Much like the idea for the album, the music video features a handful of friends coming together and making something fun. It was a really fun shoot day. The story of the video is me looking to form a band and after getting rejected I decide to kidnap people and force them to be in my band. And it worked! I assure you that is not how I got eddy and TMS drummer, Brad Dickert, to form the actual band.”
The upcoming album, Moving, is set to boast contributions from many bands such as The Aquabats, Teenage Bottlerocket, The Dollyrots, The Screamers and many others. The feel of the album is a blend of punk, power pop, and rock that Bones hopes that listeners will vibe to.
