Video Premiere: The Promised End – ‘A Long Shadow’

The Promised Land

Boston punk outfit The Promised End, who have drawn comparisons to the best eras of the Epitaph/Fat Wreck labels, are capping off a banner year in 2024 with a new single. February of last year saw the band releasing their debut full-length, For the Buried and the Broken, on Sound Investment Records (U.S.) and Gunner Records (Germany), and now they’re gearing up to head back into the studio in April to record their follow up. But first, they want to give a little taste of what’s to come with their new single “A Long Shadow.”

Today, we’re debuting the lyric video for “A Long Shadow,” with animation by Bizhan Khodabandeh, a day before the song hits streaming. With an unrelenting hardcore style and thoughtful, provocative lyrics, “A Long Shadow” takes aim at the United States’ funding of wars around the globe. It seems hardly a coincidence that the only colors in the lyric video (red, white, black, and green) happen to be the colors of the Palestinian flag.

“We are the malcontents of manufactured consent,” say the band regarding the single. “In opposition, as one voice of dissent.”
