One of our favorite bands, The Remote Controls, have made their triumphant return! You might remember we did a feature on this band for our Bandcamp of the Day column in 2023 for their self-titled debut album and commented that it was a beautiful example of “hardcore and pop punk that combine together in different ways to make all kinds of wonderful noises” and went so far as to call them “a band who truly understand punk.” Now they’re back with their upcoming sophomore album, Too Tough, which is due out in digital format on August 1 and physical formats in October.
Today the band are debuting the video for their song “American Standard” off their upcoming album. Their masterful blend of pop-punk and hardcore are here again in full force, as the song takes aim at the current political administration in the United States. Just in case there was any sort of ambiguity from the lyrics, the video makes it clear that Trump is the one in their lyrical crosshairs. Check out the video below.
