Video Premiere: Violets – ‘The Tower’

Violets

Violets are born out of the ashes of Chicago punk royalty, containing members of Naked Raygun, The Methadones, and Blood People. But don’t let their resumes fool you; this is a distinctly new band. “We really don’t sound like any of our past bands,” explains guitarist Bill Stephens. “How about we just describe ourselves as kick ass?” Having found the perfect chemistry between the members and perfecting their unique sound, the band are ready to self-release their self-titled debut EP, which is due out on May 2.

Today, Violets are premiering the video for their first single off the EP called “The Tower.” With crunchy guitars and an energy that finds a middle ground between punk and grunge, the band emerge with something that sounds oddly hopeful and bright. The simple music video features the band playing their song together in what appears to be a living room, awash in the bright glow of the lamps that add an ethereal feel to the whole affair. Check out the video below.
