Video Spotlight: Felipe Pupo – ‘The Fruit of Your Labor’

Felipe Pupo

Felipe Pupo, the Philadelphia-based afrobeat punk experiment led by E. Grizzly Mendez, is riding high off the release of their new album Reggie!!!, that came out last week via A-Ha Network. Named in honor of band member Reggie Addison, who sadly passed away recently, the album is a fitting tribute that blends together afrobeat, punk, hardcore, poetry, and more. The band themselves are named in honor of late band member Jason Pupo, making this album a beautiful tribute to those who helped bring this project to fruition.

“Originally this album was going to be called Los Circulos,” says Mendez. “But then Reggie passed away, and we felt like we had to dedicate this album to him. He was our brother and a great man overall who still inspires us to this day.”

Today, we’re spotlighting the video for “The Fruit of Your Labor” off of Reggie!!! A frenetically-paced track with a spastic beat and aggressive, angular guitars, the brief, one-minute track packs a surprising punch. Add to that the video that depicts fruit picking with the same energy as the video, and you have a really fascinating peek into how unique the larger album is. Check out the video below.

Reggie!!! is out now, and you can order it from A-Ha Network. Follow Felipe Pupo on Instagram for future updates.
