Video Spotlight: Jane Doe – ‘The Menu’

Jane Doe

Femme-forward Los Angeles band Jane Doe are on a mission to keep rock ‘n’ roll alive. Gaining momentum with their first album Identified, the band are receiving accolades from Atwood Magazine, The Luna Collective, Melodic, and more. Now with the release of the band’s sophomore album Found, the band’s sound promises to reach new sonic heights.

Today, we’re spotlighting the video for Jane Doe’s new single “The Menu” off the album, a groove-heavy track marked by fiercely feminine lyrics and a shockingly bold video where vocalist Izzy Kay actually shaves her head on camera. This is as real as rock ‘n’ roll gets.

“I took back my agency and started a new chapter,” says Kay. “We feel like so many people can relate to the need for a fresh start. Shaving my head on camera was really freeing. No one needs to conform to ‘traditional’ notions of beauty or image. This song is about combating that archaic thought process.”
