Solo artist Malenka hails from Warsaw, Poland, but has been based in London since she was 16 years old. Her new, stripped-down EP, Creature of Devotion, which was released earlier this week, draws to mind Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo for the younger generation and Hope Sandoval and Joni Mitchell for the older generations. Today, we’re spotlighting the video that Malenka released for the title track. With simple guitars producing a haunting melody that’s perfectly accompanied by Malenka’s powerhouse vocal performance, the song explores the conflicting desires of freedom and wanting to be devoted to one person.
