It’s been six long years since since Portland, Oregon’s Toxic Holocaust released new music, and initially, I wasn’t exactly blown away by their latest release. It took some time to get used to, but now that Primal Future: 2019 has been out for a while, and I’ve actually had the chance to fully digest it, it’s honestly grown on me.

Multi-talented band leader/mastermind Joel Grind has more than just a few tricks up his sleeve here. The band churn out a host of skull-crushing numbers in the form of “Black Out the Code,” “Iron Cage,” and “Cybernetic War” to name just a few.

Listeners are given very little chance to catch their breath in between the album’s ten, blistering tracks. And although it might say 2019 in the title, this thing sounds straight out of the 80s, yet without feeling dated one bit. Doubtful headbangers the world over will have too much to complain about over this one.
