If you’re a fan of noise-rock, ’80s post-punk and Dischord Records, Beliefs, the Toronto duo of Josh Korody and Jesse Crowe, are your new infatuation. Often reminding me of The Jesus and Mary Chain flexing their muscles, meshing with the dark dance-rock of Girls Against Boys, and adding haunting, gloomy, experimentalism, this 3rd album is a groove heavy post-punk template with moments of dense guitars and meticulous atmosphere. Previously a band recognized for their shoegaze influence, Beliefs are now touching on darker, more mysterious landscapes and we’re all better off for it.
