With a name like this, I was expecting Morrissey like brooding (which I’m not opposed to), but instead got Lou Barlow like thoughtfulness (which I’m also not opposed to). Of course, the Danish singer/songwriter at the helm, Hans-Christian, is no one trick pony, and by the sounds of the tunes here, has probably dabbled in punk, grunge and noise-rock at some point. Hans-Christian reportedly wanted all 12 songs here to sound like different bands (his full band, Racetrack Babies, broke up while fleshing out this album), which he partially succeeds in as the indie-rock listen will appeal to fans of variations of crunchy, fuzzed out and turbulent rock that’s not afraid of a tender side.
