Two people make a lot of racket on this 4 th album from these Brooklyn experimental punks who probably have an affinity for releases on the SST label. Channeling the energy and quirkiness of legends like the Minutemen and visceral intensity of Black Flag, Cinema Cinema are adept at both blistering hardcore not unlike Refused, as well as furious saxophone moments with heated riffage and unconventional abrasiveness. While some tunes are 3 minutes of fury, others, like the 9 minute closer, are a hodgepodge of haunting, jazzy, chaotic art-punk noise. An intimidating and absorbing listen here, not for the meek.
