Cock Sparrer
Forever
(Pirates Press/Randale/Chase The Ace)

Even if you’ve never heard Cock Sparrer before, you’ve probably heard of them referenced as one of the most influential punk bands to date, as they’ve inspired legions of artists in their 45 years as a band. As early innovators of Oi! Punk, though they’ve had members come and go and have dealt with plenty of record business nonsense, their ability to play melodic, raw, working class anthems has never wavered.

On their first album in a decade, all the Cock Sparrer trademarks are on board, with instantly memorable sing-a-longs, gang vocals, and ultra-melodic guitar work. The lyrical topics surround camaraderie and politics that are as sharp as the music, and will appeal to both the aging punks who wore out the grooves on their Sham 69 and Buzzcocks records, as well as fans of modern street punk who cite Dropkick Murphys and Rancid as legends.

As usual, Pirates Press alters the color of wax on the pressings here, and even the CD has different package options, and includes a few tracks not on the vinyl.
