As the great Frou Frou once mused, “There is beauty in the breakdown.” Dear Seattle did not necessarily compose Don’t Let Go as one cohesive record, rather the Australian four followed more of a free-form route which finds each song to have its own life, not dependent on what came before or after.
Thankfully, this gamble paid off. Dear Seattle have turned out an immaculate effort. There’s a splash of delicious, 90s radio rock with “Daytime TV” and a swatch of early 2000s emo in “You”, while the closer track, “Keep Dreaming,” is ripe for mainstream radio play. Every offering on Don’t Let Go is catchier than the last. Dear Seattle is the first big sleeper act to watch out for in 2019.
