The Everymen
These Mad Dogs Need Heroes
(Ernest Jenning)

Though they may have scaled their band down to a 5 piece from a 9 piece, The Everymen still pack a lot of punch into their garage, punk and jazz influenced rock. Less reliant on horns this time, there’s still plenty of upbeat, rollicking sax amid the various versions of rock they produce, and Mike V and Catherine Herrick’s strong vocals trade off between gruff and sweet to complement the doo-wop and retro rock stylings the band embrace so well. The most notable change here is large number of soulful ballads present that provide a contrast to the anthemic rock that’s in shorter supply this time around. I feel quite confident saying this is one of the best bands that exists in 2016.
