Few bands have been as consistent as Killswitch Engage, steadily improving with each album since their self-titled debut in 2000. Now eight albums in, the band still soundsas tight as ever, and what they’ve assembled here may just go down as some of their best work yet.

Album opener “Unleashed” sets the tone for things to come. From there on out, it’s one heavy-hitter after another, each worthy of being put alongside any of the band’s best material, including “Know Your Enemies,” “Us Against the World,” “As Sure as the Sun Will Rise,” “Take Control,” and “The Crownless King.” Tracks like “I Can’t Be the Only One” and “I Am Broken Too” offer a lighter, more personal touch to things, with the latter featuring a poignant video to go along with it (complete with an anti-suicide ad at the end).

I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting to be blown away going into this one, but Killswitch Engage are still a force to be reckoned with that thankfully have not taken the more mainstream route so many of their peers already have. If solid metalcore is what you’re after, this should definitely do the trick.
