Album Review: Boston Manor – ‘Be Nothing’

Boston Manor - Be Nothing

Boston Manor
Be Nothing
(Pure Noise Records)

Saudade, Boston Manor’s debut EP of 2015, came as a surprise hit pounding right under the radar; for those that heard it, the band made an immediate name for themselves with the tracks “Gone” and “Trapped Nerve”. Though their full length, Be Nothing, doesn’t feel quite as darkly passionate, it’s nevertheless a collection full of worthy, satisfying moments to compliment the band’s exciting arrival. Like a cross between The Wonder Years, Like Pacific, and early Taking Back Sunday, Be Nothing bursts with power and emotional reigns that tug back at the right moments throughout. “Lead Feet”, “Forget Me Not”, and “This Song Is Dedicated To Nobody” come out as the swinging highlights, infectious and hard-hitting; whereas, “Laika” and “Broken Glass” utilize the darkest moments best. Considering how Suadade did come mostly under the radar, it would have been nice to include “Gone” and “Trapped Nerve” in this ten-track collection; however, Be Nothing is dense with memorable moments worth learning. Boston Manor have a sound that is unique and strong enough to get them places in no time. Get to know both their Pure Noise releases before they blow up huge.
