Album Review: The Danger of Falling – ‘Hope/Well’

The Danger of Falling
Hope/Well
(Imminence Records)

New kids on the block, The Danger of Falling, show an impressive amount of creativity on their label debut, and it’s an EP no less. Hope/Well brings to mind the likes of Misery Signals, Heart In Hand, and Being as an Ocean. The ambient hardcore scene is one that has grown continuously in the last few years, so it’s not really as powerful as it was before; however, that being said, Hope/Well is a great example of the sound done right. The vocals are spot-on, though not unique, and the instrumental sections are well written and performed. The atmosphere of the record brings no complaint, though a little more energy in the grand scheme of the collection would have made it a little stronger. But then again, this is an EP, and therefore just an introduction of TDOF. With a full length, the band could easily open their wings wider and give us a broader sense of their abilities. As Hope/Well stands, this is a highly recommended release for any fan of hardcore and its offset genres.
