Though he’s been a part of some significant collaborations over the years, Garwood has largely remained out of the spotlight, often residing as the quiet component to some grand albums in recent years. Similarly, his solo work is calm, subtly powerful and resonates with a warm humbleness. Primarily ballads, it’s slow burning and hypnotic, and Garwood’s complicated melodies collide with his smoldering voice in a way that brings to mind Leonard Cohen, Crooked Fingers and Mark Lanegan.
