Eerie
Eerie
(Tee Pee)
Eerie plays epic and heavy loud rock jams that draw from post punk, black metal, hard rock and psych. In addition their songs have a very apocalyptic feel to them, thanks to the vocals of Shane Baker (Alaric, Pins Of Light), who comes off like a mad prophet ushering in the end times.
The songs are anchored by the powerful drumming of Moses Saarni (Futur Skullz) and bass playing of Dave Sweetapple (Witch), which is tribal and aggressive. Over these grooves, guitarist Tim Lehi (Twilight, Draugar), throws out all types of memorable riffs and solos that venture off into psychedelic rock. Add Baker’s vocals to the mix and you have quite the potent mix.
“Hideous Serpent” opens the album with a flourish of guitars and incessant drums, setting the tone for the album. “Yeti” starts off with bellicose pounding from Saarni, which is joined by the guitar of Lehi and builds to one big, heavy post punk jam. “Master Of Creation” opens with some gentle psych runs from Lehi and then locks to into a big riff, and more of those aggressive drums. It also throws in some ripping solos. “Immortal Rot” features a jagged guitar riff, along with solos that shred, while closer “Blood Drinker” ends the album on another heavy and psychedelic post punk note.
Eerie’s debut provides the listener with a memorable dose of apocalyptic loud rock. Though, each member of the band is busy with other projects, here’s hoping they find time to record another album. They are certainly onto something with their ripping mixture of sounds.
Here’s another one you shouldn’t let slip by you.
