Iji
Bubble
(Team Love)
Iji (pronounced ‘eehee’) have been milling around for a decade now, as songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Zach Burba has turned his bedroom pop outfit into a unique form of indie-rock that remains unclassifiable. Currently alongside members of Sick Sad World, Neighbors and Pill Wonder, the players penned their dreams down in a journal as a template and recorded this in just 5 days. A listen with very little uniformity running through it, while some tracks are busy and horn filled, others are with ’70s funk spirited saxophones, and psyche-influenced pop is just as prevalent as New Wave buried under erratic layers of jangly pop. An album that’s as random as the dreams it soundtracks, Bubble is an experimental listen of rock and pop with no boundaries and plenty of imagination.
