Album Review: KNTRLR – ‘The Great Filter’

The Great Filter

KNTRLR’s idea of post-punk is the sort that pays homage to outfits like New Order and is constructed with much ’80s synth-rock and New Wave tendencies. The pair behind the tunes, Michael and Charles, have a penchant for the dance floor with plenty of pop hooks, but their lyrical content is far from pop fluff, instead opting for darker, more substantial themes. While there’s an awful lot of electro post-punk out there today (with emphasis on awful), this first album from KNTRLR jumps right to the top of the list of ‘must hear’. (Tom Haugen)
