Love
Black Beauty
(High Moon)
Finally reissued on CD (an with a giant booklet and bonus tracks), this 1973 psyche-rock shelved album illustrates a more textured sound with blues, folk and reggae moments. Headed by Arthur Lee and a different backing band than the more well known Love albums and recorded on his own dime, sadly the label that was originally supposed to put this out closed their doors too early. Most often compared to Hendrix, while that comparison is still applicable, it’s also a more garage rock version of what we associate the Love legacy with. A great reissue that might even help you understand what Walter Schreifels was singing about… (Tom Haugen)
