Album Review: Paul Bergmann – ‘Stars And Streams’

Paul Bergmann
Stars And Streams
(Self-Release)

An intimate and lo-fi album that was recorded in one day, the sparseness of Bergmann’s work runs parallel to Elliott Smith or Leonard Cohen, and his timelessness conjures up images of Cash and Dylan in their prime. Mostly Bergmann’s voice and guitar (occasional harmonicas and whistling are charmingly used) and with a seemingly DIY recording approach, it’s raw, slow burning, and the sort of strumming folk music that contains a rare stark beauty that leaves an indelible mark.
