Album Review: Sandra Kolstad – “Zero Gravity State Of Mind”

Sandra Kolstad
Zero Gravity State Of Mind
(Red Eye Transit)

Don’t let Kolstad’s background as a classically trained pianist fool you, cause the Norwegian songstress has an arsenal of talent in the area of electro-pop and acoustic singer-songwriter fare, too. Though her 3rd album starts out with balladry, it swiftly moves into infectious pop for the dance floor while also exploring organic intimacy, all while experimenting with atmosphere and the sort of artistic quality we generally relegate to people like Bjork. Kolstad keeps her roots on the surface by book ending the album with pianos, but the filling is exploration of the most creative kind. (Tom Haugen)
