Album Review: Soilwork – “Live In The Heart of Helsinki”

Soilwork
Live In The Heart of Helsinki
(Nuclear Blast Records)

I’m going to comfortably go out on a limb and say that Soilwork’s Live In The Heart of Helsinki is the best live metal album of 2015. This DVD (or BluRay) and 2CD set showcases 23 songs from their 9 studio albums, and every track has captured the unbridled energy Soilwork delivers onstage. Whether you watch the DVD or listen to the CDs, the live show clocks in at a hearty 1 hour and 42 minutes, so you get your money’s worth. In addition to the live show, there’s some bonus material, including the history of Soilwork, behind the scenes, and drum cam videos.

This Swedish melodic death metal band knows how to give the fans what they want, and this live album is the best way to get that live show fix between tours. Live In The Heart of Helsinki is a must-have for Soilwork diehards, and it’s the perfect way to introduce the band to its next wave of fans. Get ready to get hooked! (Shannon Del Valle)
