Album Review: Tomás Pagán Motta – “Tomas Pagan Motta”

Tomás Pagán Motta

(8 Gang Switch)

Previously recording music under the moniker The Petticoat Tearoom, D.C. Transplant Motta brings the Caribbean influence from his childhood in Puerto Rico and builds folk and Americana songs where pretty singing and intricate guitar work help propel articulate lyrics. It’s a quick listen at under half an hour, but the mysterious beauty and Motta’s ability to manipulate sparseness with orchestral moments and pedal steel provides a long lasting impression.
