Album Review: Bad Cop – Hello, Mr. Sunshine

A guitar blitz is evident here with undertones of emotion and Bad Cop are the band programming great sounds, entertaining the flock of music lovers. They play songs which yearn to be exposed, songs about love and alcohol stains. Their premise is to enthral anyone who wants to listen on and their tracks are made to excite. Throbbing guitar solos are there to dazzle.

And to dazzle this band does, orchestrating powerful live-wire performances, bearing down on their counterparts, sending letters of intention through lyrics. These lyrics, have been masterminded to create such tension too, as estranged lovers are exposed. On top of this, the riffs are experimental and diverse, growing into behemoth sized, even stadium sized sounds. This band are also made for arena’s, where they would fit their sound and showcase it like stern warriors of punk. Punk as a whole needs an infusion of new blood, and Bad Cop are prime components of punks revival of flair. With that being said, the act aren’t just playing 3 chords, they’re embracing guitar parts and melody, which is rare these days.

Hello, Mr Sunshine is the album of punk ferocity. ‘’Alvicass’’ starts proceedings, with its riff such as pleasing sound, and those vocals taking us back to punk’s glory days. ‘’Dreamer Man’’ opens calmly, with subtle vocals. The chug of guitar offers a great backdrop and then the solo completely takes over. ‘’Illuminate Me’’ is another classic sounding score. It’s lyrically cohesive and tells an intriguing story. ‘’Room Full Of Mirrors’’ adds a psychedelic vibe to the record with an untold fable spilling over about a disenchanted girl hooked to life’s poisons.

Bad Cop stretch their muscle credentials here, splitting away from the pact, using classical sounds as foundations and a grand modern touch.
